Who we are

The American Board of Registration and Accreditation of Portuguese and Spanish Language Psychoanalyst (ABRAPlp) is an accreditation agency established as a non-profit entity in Orlando, Florida (USA) to promote excellence in psychoanalytic education. ABRAPlp develops clear, consistent and transparent standards for psychoanalytic education that can be widely implemented in the diverse community of psychoanalysts. Its accreditation process aims to ensure that training institutions implement these standards in their education and training of psychoanalytic professionals. Its purpose is to protect the public by identifying psychoanalytic training programs that meet these standards.

What we do

ABRAPlp registers Portuguese or Spanish -speaking psychoanalyst (candidates and members), who are practicing psychoanalysis, and accredits psychoanalytic education programs. It assesses how well each psychoanalytic program or training program implements the Psychoanalytic Education Standards in light of its distinct theories and training tradition. External accreditation of a program of study or training program provides parity with peers in other academic disciplines. ABRAPlp supports common educational standards and guidelines and encourages conversation among diverse schools for cooperative scientific inquiry.
